Young adults, a largely unknown group in the war on cancer, account for 72,000 new diagnoses each year. That's one every eight minutes. It's also seven times more all than pediatric cancers. This is not OK!
Stupid Cancer (aka The I'm Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation, i[2]y) is a non-profit organization that empowers young adults affected by cancer through innovative and award-winning programs and services. We are the nation's largest support community for this underserved population and serve as a bullhorn for the young adult cancer movement.
Our charter is to ensure that no one goes unaware of the age-appropriate resources they are entitled to so they can get busy living.
There is a ton of awesome support out there exclusively for young adults that we're going to connect you with because no one else seems to be doing that; not your doctor, your hospital...not even the mighty Interweb. Why? We don't know. Frankly, we don't care. (It's no one's fault, we suppose. Besides, who has the time to search? You've got cancer!) We don't want you missing out on resources you might not know about; like young adult conferences, happy hours, tweetups, retreats, financial scholarships, peer groups, fertlity advocacy, legal assistance, relationship workshops and more. (Basically, all the things you never knew you always wanted.) So stop searching and start networking with thousands of others justlikeyou. Now when you scream, "I'M TOO YOUNG FOR THIS!", you'll know you're not alone. (There's over 5 million of us in the US!) So, welcome to the club that no one wants to belong to but once you're here, you're family. Just like The Olive Garden®, except pretty much the exact opposite. It's life + cancer, where remission is not a cure and survivorship is all that matters.
Don't see anything? Click Here. i[2]y hosts numerous social activities and young professionals events around the country each year. If you'd like to meet your peers, get connected, end your isolation and be a part of your generation's cancer movement, check back and look for happenings in you neck of the woods.
